Why We Love It.

The 2021 vintage produced a very different style of Burgundy to the warmer years that came immediately before it.

It was a cooler, more difficult growing season, with significantly reduced yields, but the best wines have emerged with freshness, perfume and a more classical expression of Pinot Noir.

That suits Les Faconnières particularly well.

The wine shows bright red fruit, fine tannins and plenty of freshness, with the structure underneath to continue developing in bottle.

93-95 points from Neal Martin, Vinous shows it is highly rated, and for us, the appeal is straightforward: old vines, a top Premier Cru site directly below Clos de la Roche, and a vintage that delivers a fresher, more traditional style of Burgundy.

To be cellared or enjoyed now.

We are pleased to offer the excellent 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Faconnières from Domaine Lignier-Michelot.

The Premier Cru site of Les Faconnières sits directly below Clos de la Roche Grand Cru, placing it on the same slope as some of the most prized vineyards in Burgundy.

Lignier-Michelot owns around 0.7 hectares here, including some of the domaine’s oldest vines, now more than 65 years old.

This really is an irresistible, classically styled Burgundy.

93-95/100 Neal Martin, Vinous
The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Faconnières 1er Cru includes 70% whole bunches. Now this has a wonderful, complex bouquet, with shimmering red berry fruit, heightened mineralité, traces of Earl Grey and fresh tobacco leaf percolating through with aeration. The palate is beautifully balanced with fine grain tannins, nuanced and intellectual, succinctly focused on the persistent finish. Bon vin!
